Ayurveda

Esoteric Labs answers questions in Ayurveda as its classical texts teach it and as it is practised today. A personal question is answered through the doshic patterns that produce it, distinguished by their signs. Treatment is described in the classical order, removing the cause first, then pacification and purification, with diet and the daily and seasonal routines as the foundation of all of it.

What it draws on

The Brihat Trayi: the Charaka Samhita, the Sushruta Samhita, and Vagbhata's Ashtanga Hridaya; the Laghu Trayi: Madhava Nidana, the Sharngadhara Samhita, and Bhavaprakasha; the Kashyapa Samhita. The modern layer is P. V. Sharma's Dravyaguna Vijnana, the Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia of India, and the curriculum of the Indian colleges. Herbs are given by Sanskrit and botanical name with rasa, guna, virya, vipaka, prabhava, dosha action, and the classical dose and form, from churna to rasayana, with the anupana and the timing relative to food and season.

Questions it answers

Across the traditions

Jyotisha is Ayurveda's sister science: planets rule doshas and dhatus, and remedial timing follows the dashas. The materia medica is shared with herbalism, and Chinese medicine's constitutional reasoning is a close cousin.
